DES 's Willingdon Gets Greener: Rajendra Singh Rana Launches Environmental Education Park
A new Environmental Education Park is being built in Willingdon College to promote ancient Indian knowledge for environmental protection. Dr. Rajendra Singh Rana, the chief guest, highlighted the importance of traditional practices like water conservation to combat climate change. The park is expected to be completed within a year.
Commemorative Event for Martyr's at Shri Kantilal Purushottamdas Shah High School
On 23rd March -Kantilal Shah High School organized a program on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas honoring sacrifices of the martyrs. Educational officer Mr. Rajesahab Londhe guided students, and remembered the martyrs' contributions to our country. Students sang songs dedicated to the martyrs .The Chairperson of the programme Mr. Ramakrishna Patwardhan emphasized on patriotism and education. The event was coordinated by Mr. Khatavkar ,HM Rawade Sir and staff.
Camp at DES Murlidhar Lohia Matrimandir School
DES Murlidhar Lohia Matrimandir School organized health camp on the occasion of International Women's Day. Rajshree Thakar, Ashok Palande, Sameer Rupde, and 'Apalki' joined hands to raise awareness.Eye exams and health checks were conducted. HM Madhuri Barve led the event with teachers and volunteers.
A Delegation of PENN State University Visited Fergusson College (Autonomous)
11 March 2024 : Fergusson College welcomed a prestigious delegation from Penn State University at Harrisburg. Led by Prof. Omid Ansary, Prof. Vahid Motevalli, Prof. Sairam Rudrabhatla, and Dr. Todd Clark. An official display of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was done on this occasion.Throughout the day, the delegation engaged with students, faculty, and management, fostering valuable connections and insights. This exchange signifies a commitment to academic collaboration and cultural exchange between our institutions.
The interactions were marked by enthusiasm and mutual respect, laying the foundation for fruitful future endeavors. Fergusson College eagerly anticipates the opportunities and benefits this partnership will bring to both academic communities.
International Conference 2024 'Viksit Bharat 2047: Pioneering Transformation and Shaping Global Business Landscape.'
8th & 9th March2024: The International Research Conference on Viksit Bharat 2047, organized by the DES's IMDR, was a success story with 114 research papers. Key speakers included Aashish Chandorkar, a diplomat at the Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization, Sawani Raje Byrne, a distinguished Lecturer in War Studies at King's College, and Garima Garg, Associate Vice President of Verizon. Chandorkar's visionary discussions focused on strategic autonomy and its impact on foreign policy. Byrne's insights on strategic autonomy and Byrne's session on empowering women in leadership through tech advancement were also discussed. Garima Garg's session on empowering women in leadership through tech advancement highlighted the role of technology in fostering leadership diversity. The conference also featured Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, and Mr. Sven Hoose, Director of J. Wagner India Pvt Ltd, who provided valuable industry perspectives. The Best Paper Awards were awarded for outstanding contributions, highlighting the conference's commitment to excellence in research and scholarship.
Inspiring Young Minds: National Science Day Celebration at Hindustan Antibiotics School (Primary Unit)
28 February 2024: On the occasion of National Science Day, students of classes I to IV celebrated Science Day with enthusiasm by making various experiments and replicas at Hindustan Antibiotics Primary School run by Deccan Education Institute. On the occasion of National Science Day to inculcate a scientific approach in children from now on, students of classes 1 to 4 presented and replicated the experiment with the concept of school principal Surekha Jadhav. In the experiment air occupies space, air has pressure, oxygen is needed for combustion, Newton's Law, Floating Eggs, Sugar Rainbow , Air Has Weight, Walking Water, Floating Sinking etc. Models include agricultural works, volcanoes, lung work, water cycle, day and night, vacuum cleaners, public services, lava lamps, air cooler water fountains, robot hands, dams, drip irrigation, windmills, chandrayaan, smart cities, electric cars, current state of the earth, sea ponds, artificial water storage.Students described several such replicas.
Smt.Nita Khade, Centre Coordinator Pimpri Unnat Group Resource Centre and Shri Vikram More, Subject Expert, Akurdi Unnat Group Resource Centre were present for the inauguration of the science exhibition. Both guests greatly appreciated the little pediatricians, teachers and parents. Archana Gore, a senior teacher at the school; Shri Vitthal More guided the program. Jyoti Nivangune and Rupali Jadhav of the school's science board planned the event. All the teachers and students of the school worked for the exhibition.

19 February 2024 : DES's Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar Guruji Vidyalaya celebrated the auspicious occasions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti and Param Pujya Golwalkar Guruji Jayanti with great reverence and enthusiasm. Students and faculty alike commemorated the birthdays of these remarkable figures, honouring their legacies of leadership, valour, and wisdom. Through various activities and ceremonies, the school community paid tribute to the indomitable spirit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the profound teachings of Param Pujya Golwalkar Guruji. These celebrations serve as poignant reminders of the rich cultural heritage and ideals that inspire and guide the school's ethos.
